Proyecto Desechable
STORY SUMMARY: In 2006 I moved to Bolivia and began working for an NGO. These pictures are the results of a self-funded participatory photography project, completed with disadvantaged youths on the streets of Bolivia’s capital city, La Paz.
The participants were mainly teenagers who shined shoes together in order to make money. They usually migrated to the city from rural areas due to shortages of food and other basic resources. They worked in the streets together to make money to send back to their families.
The project was carried out using disposable cameras, asking the participants to show what they liked and disliked about their situation. The work was first exhibited at the Museum Tambo Quirquincho, Bolivia.
